Havis has engineered a new touch screen display designed specifically for public service vehicles. It’s easy to fit into a vehicle and saves valuable space in the cabin. The display attaches directly to the dash panel, a new type of mounting that allows you to reach the screen easily in your line of sight. The hinge on the mount allows for a tilting and swiveling motion so you can position the display to the right, left, or upward. By lifting the display, you can easily access the control panel on the bottom. Read on to learn more about this cutting-edge product.
Space-Saving Design
You can install the sizable monitor in the cabin without the need for much space. It’s only 1.4 inches deep, which leaves room for other devices, like a keyboard, in the cabin. The design also allows the computing device to be mounted securely inside the trunk of the vehicle so there is more room for occupants in the cabin area. Either the driver or the front-seat passenger can easily see and operate the touch screen.
Ease of Operation
The Screen
The 11.6″ high resolution touch screen allows multi-touch with two fingers to activate items, to pinch and zoom in on the display, and to zoom out of the display to see more of the information on the screen. The swivel mount allows you to move the screen easily to avoid glare on the display in bright sunlight. You can customize the screen’s brightness with a choice of 20 different levels, including a red night mode that reduces eyestrain. The volume can also be easily adjusted with a quick touch.
The mounting hardware allows you to toggle the screen between landscape and portrait displays. An innovative power button lets you black out the screen for privacy or to avoid distraction. This blackout button darkens the screen, but you do not have to reboot the entire system to return to the display.
USB & HDMI Ports
Tilting the screen upward gives quick access to the USB and HDMI ports on the bottom of the monitor. The USB port allows easy access for installing updates to your main device mounted in the trunk.
Audio
The Havis Touch Screen Display includes two bulit-in 2.0 W stereo speakers to project sound from the computer device mounted elsewhere in the vehicle or in the trunk.
Testing and Certifications
The Havis display passed the vibration testing of MIL-STD 810G 514.5 so it can withstand the normal vibration of driving on any road surface. It also passed the military grade testing of a crash test at 30 MPH and environmental testing for hot and cold temperatures while operating and while in storage. It can withstand temperatures as low as -6 and as high as 140 degrees Fahrenheit and still be operational. The touch screen can operate with Windows7 and Windows8 from your computer.
