Introducing the Toughbook® 55
fu·ture-proof: adjective (of a product) unlikely to become obsolete.
The latest addition to Panasonic’s Toughbook® line, Toughbook® 55 is a rather unique semi-rugged laptop. Its extensibility is unparalleled in its class. The overall concept is to have a completely customizable computer. There are 3 different expansion areas of the laptop where ‘plug n play’ modules can be purchased to suit individual needs. There are several xPAK options for each expansion area. Making it easy to swap out key components, such as smart card readers, finger print scanners, or even second batteries.
Yes, you heard it right, 2nd batteries. This is possible by purchasing the xPAK expansion pack that provides an optional second battery. Giving this laptop up to a 40-hour battery life with just the switch of a quick release lever and a swap of a module. It’s impressive to know the battery will last for those long 12-hour shifts some officers are putting in.
“The Toughbook 55 has the ability to work all day on a fully charged battery, which is among the most critical needs for users out in the field. Plus they can also ‘hot-swap’ an optional second battery without powering down or interruptions,” – Anthony Mungiello, Panasonic Product Manager
